Red Lake Peak 10,061'
Red Lake Peak is about a mile north of Carson Pass and can be climbed by
hiking north on the Pacific Crest Trail as it crosses Carson Pass and then
heading east up the west slope. This view looks south to Elephant Back(L) and
Round Top(R).
This unremarkable view to the southeast is really remarkable because the
west wind was blowing a steady 30 knots. As the air hit the mountain and
uplifted, clouds kept forming in the same area. The clouds quickly blew across
the mountain and dissipated as they moved over the desert.
To the north is Desolation Wilderness with Lake Tahoe on the right.
